Let me share with you my journey in life and the principles I hold close that guide my work. I am Chaz Coffman, a passionate and innovative hair stylist and entrepreneur deeply rooted here in Jackson, Tennessee. Over my years in the beauty industry, I've cultivated a proven track record of excellence, driven by an unwavering commitment to my craft and a desire to constantly push creative boundaries. 

    Since becoming a licensed cosmetologist after graduating from Arnold’s Beauty School in 2004, my focus has been on honing my expertise in cutting, coloring, and texturing, with a particular passion for crafting transformative color techniques that truly elevate the experiences of those who sit in my chair. For more than 15 years, Redken hair color has been my trusted partner in all my salon ventures, including my current mobile business, www.gayhairstylist.com. 

    I'm consistently drawn to its exceptional quality and incredible versatility, which have been instrumental in achieving the vibrant, personalized looks my clients adore while continuously deepening my understanding of color theory and their unique individual needs.

    For the past four years, I've been dedicated to running my own traveling business, “The Gay Hairstylist,” allowing me to serve clients throughout West Tennessee and even beyond. Simultaneously, since November 2024, I've been a significant driving force at Supercuts in Jackson. I contribute approximately 85% of the entire color sales at this location, proudly making it the highest-performing in color among 11 privately owned franchise Supercuts. 

    My earlier role as General Manager and Stylist at Spa Vita truly showcased my leadership and innovative spirit. During my time there, I spearheaded a complete overhaul of the salon, successfully increasing revenue by strategically optimizing previously wasted retail space and even negotiating a substantial $1,250 monthly lease savings. I developed a comprehensive “policy and procedures” manual, personally conducted all employee training sessions, and implemented a robust theft-proof loss prevention plan. 

    My leadership particularly shone during the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic when I meticulously crafted the salon’s “First Covid Cleanliness and Safety Procedures.” This proactive approach garnered local news attention and became a recognized safety benchmark in the region, ensuring business continuity and even attracting new clients who valued safety and care. Under my guidance, the spa staff grew from 13 to 21 dedicated individuals, and I streamlined financial processes, proposed a detailed building purchase plan for the owner’s future retirement, and seamlessly integrated Vagaro online booking services.

    I don't consider myself just a hairstylist; I am, at my core, an artist. It's a deeply creative and style-driven experience, one that I strive to make exceptional and far beyond the typical salon visit.

Beyond the intimate world of the salon, my talents and interests span a wide artistic realm. 

    From July 2019 to July 2021, at Ghostite Productions, where I had the incredible opportunity to help orchestrate large-scale events for audiences of up to 5,000 across West Tennessee. I was privileged to collaborate with renowned artists such as Ron White, Dwight Yoakum, Shenandoah, Sara Evans, Jamey Johnson, and Jay DeMarcus of Rascal Flatts. My artistic versatility extends deeply into music; I play the piano, fiddle, drums, guitar, and various other instruments, often serenading my clients, creating a unique and welcoming atmosphere. Many of my salons even featured my cherished red grand piano in the waiting area, where clients could often enjoy impromptu performances.

    My practical creativity also manifests in hands-on skills such as general carpentry and basic residential electrical wiring, which enhance my professional offerings in unexpected ways. I've also ventured into the exciting world of manufacturing, branding, and marketing my own line of innovative hair products, further showcasing my entrepreneurial vision and creative drive. My inventive spirit also led to the creation of “The Boltz,” the first Eco-Power Generating Shoes, a unique invention that allows you to conveniently charge any device via an onboard USB port.

These skills have been honed through years of diverse experiences, including stage performances, retail merchandising, and providing exceptional customer service. I am also highly proficient in a wide range of digital tools, including Google Analytics, Facebook Business Manager, Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Word, Excel, Spotify, and Pandora, which underscores my technical aptitude in today's digital landscape. In 2024, I expanded my creative influence as an author, releasing "Living Injustice," a call for ethical leadership and reform in Tennessee, and "How To Get Your Way By Bitching!," a witty and insightful self-help guide on assertiveness and boundary-setting.

    My formal education began with an Associate’s Degree from Jackson State Community College in 2001, followed by my studies in the Recording Industry at Middle Tennessee State University starting in 2002. My commitment to continuous learning led me to earn a Diploma in CS-50 Introduction to Cybersecurity from Harvard University in 2023. I have been a licensed cosmetologist since my graduation from Arnold’s Beauty School in Milan, TN, in 2004.

    As a proud and vocal member of the LGBTQ+ community, I wholeheartedly embrace my identity as “The Gay Hairstylist,” using my platform to promote inclusivity, empowerment, and authentic self-expression. My entrepreneurial spirit is further evidenced by the consistent top 10% ranking my website achieves on GoDaddy.com. I am also a dedicated political activist and advocate for social change, deeply involved in fighting oppression on a daily basis as part of The Movement of America.   

    My commitment to my community has even inspired me to build an online presence to support a potential campaign for a seat in the US House of Representatives, driven by a strong desire to design and reform government entitlement programs and write new bills that address failing policies while promoting core moral values and environmental sustainability.

    Beyond my professional endeavors, I've also had the exciting opportunity to be featured on popular television shows such as American Idol and America's Got Talent, further broadening my reach and sharing my passions with a wider audience.
